Levity in Brevity

Friend and former film school classmate Terry Wesley and I have been collaborating on some web content during our downtime. The first few installments of Terry's comedy series, "20 Questions" (a parody of the Liam Neeson vehicle Taken), have just gone live on his YouTube channel. The videos are quick and fun to watch whenever you have a little lull in your day. If you've got a minute, check them out!

Our wonderful little web series, "Dumbass Filmmakers," screened at LAWebfest this past weekend. We're happy to report that it garnered 4 awards, including Outstanding Director for Hunter Lee Hughes! Yay!

Sophie (Lynn Chen), Leena (Sheetal Sheth), and Geraldine (Michelle Krusiec) have been true “frenemies” since elementary school. All
grown up and finding themselves in the city of Los Angeles, the ladies seek refuge from their isolation in a book club where they never actually talk about the book. Their subjects of interest? Sex, cannibalism, drugs and just about everything else you’d expect in such good company.

Five girlfriends return to their farm-filled hometown (in California's Central Valley) after their freshman year of college to throw a wedding for 18-year-old Lee. Awkward moments abound as they try to navigate a grownup life that they aren't quite ready for.

2012 has proven itself to be a productive year for me in regards to work (which i love!). just wrapped production as the gaffer on a wonderful short, soon-to-be feature, "forgiving heart," directed by the marvelous adelina anthony and produced by her and partner marisa becerra's company, aderisa productions.

festival darling, the awesome webseries "nice girls crew" is getting a second season!!! we're currently in pre-production, with principal photography set for november (soon!).

unfortunately, i wasn't able to see the wonderful job we did with season 1 when it premiered and played at film festivals over the summer. and since i don't have comcast at home, i wasn't able to watch it while it was on demand last month. but, lucky me, ngc1 is now live on youtube via caamchannel. if you haven't seen it yet, take a gander - you're in for a treat!

"nice girls crew" - additional screenings!

the premiere of "nice girls crew" was this past saturday at the sfiaaff (which i wasn't able to attend - boooooo!!!). from what i understand, the show was a hit!!! not only was it sold out, nearly 80 people were turned away from the screening!

SO, they added an additional screening in san francisco - thursday (3/15), 4:30p, at the sundance kabuki cinemas. there's also one more screening in san jose on saturday, the 17th.

"nice girls crew" at sfiaaff this march!

"nice girls crew" is a web series i worked on what seems like only last week (actually, a little less than a month ago, so close!). it's already making its premiere next month at the san francisco international asian american film festival! i can't believe it!!!

some projects take years (YEARS!) to finish; the average is about one year. so, believe me when i say that the turn around on this project was extremely fast.

i had so much fun working on "ngc"! it was one of the best working experiences of my life, and i'm so happy all of our hard work will be seen on a big screen soon! i really can't wait to see it!!!

new projects are underway as older ones are nearing completion. here is one that was finished recently. it's the first in a series of "vinégrettes" that will be released this year. keep your eyes peeled!

just wrapped principal photography on season 1 of "dumbass filmmakers," a new web series created and produced by the talented elizabeth gordon and hunter lee hughes over at fatelink productions! it was a hectic and arduous, but extremely fun and fulfilling 2 weeks. a lot of great, talented folks were involved in the making of this wonderful project. can't wait to see it all when it goes live!
